As you are all aware, there is currently an active Position Reductions And Displacements Without Layoffs bid that everyone is required to participate in. This has understandably raised concerns, as we are not yet WestJet employees and, under the terms of the WestJet collective agreement, this type of bid would not typically apply to us at this stage.

Now that Sunwing has winded down operations, Sunwing will no longer be reciprocating jumpseats with our partners, effectively terminating the agreements.

Today marks the sad day of Sunwing Airline’s last commercial flight. After that, the call sign will be used one last time on a lease return flight to Europe.

With the transfer of pilots to WestJet well underway and Sunwing flying winding down, we expected that union business would also slow. Sadly, that is not yet the case.

As a reminder, the official last flight for Sunwing Airlines will be May 28th. We are currently working on collecting historical videos and photos of our members to put together a commemorative video of the history of our pilots at Sunwing.
